Leon Breitling started Breitling Watches in a small workshop that specialized in making chronographs and precision counters for industrial and scientific purposes. In 1914, his son Gaston created the first wristwatch chronograph and gave them to pilots for the test them.
In 1952 Breitling launched the Navitimer range. Models in the range are the Navitimer 50th Anniversary, Navitimer Heritage, Navitimer Breitling Fighters, Navitimer Olympus, Cosmonaute, Montbrillant and Montbrillant Datora.
The Navitimer is a wrist instrument, equipped with the famous "navigation computer" capable of handling all calculations called for by a flight plan. The Navitimer has become the standard watch for pilots, the world over. 116 years after its creation, Breitling is still the most wanted luxury watch in the world.
The Windrider consists of models Chronomat, Chronomat Lontitude, Wings Automatic, Crosswind, Crosswind Racing, Crosswind Special, Headwind, Callisto, Callistino, Blackbird and B-Class.

The Breitling Chronomat has some interesting features. It has a flat profile as against the large chronographs have lugs that bend downward toward the wrist. Breitling instead put the "bend" in the lug end of the bracelet.
The second interesting aspect of the Chronomat design is the screw-on markers at noon, 15, 30 and 45 minutes on the bezel. The Breitling Chronomat has no resemblance to the original, which looked much like a present-day Navitimer Montbrillant.
The Breitling era came to an end in 1979. Ernest Schneider took over the company and introduced watch lines for other professions such as yachting and diving, while continuing to focus on building high quality, high precision watches for the aviation industry. The new Chronomat, the Aerospace, the Emergency and the B-1 were the new models launched under this company.
