Since 2004 HP has region locked it's ink cartridges (and therefore printers) to protect against cross-region sales in the guise of it being better able to meet local customer needs.
Of course it means you can't move a printer from region a to region b.

July 27, 2006 - I ran out of black today. I don't know why I let it irk me. I know that ink cartridges are about five times more expensive than they ought to be. Manufacturers sell the hardware at unreasonably low prices then, in turn, gouge us on the consumables.
This image is in a set called "My Daily Photo Stream". Whereas the focus of my eJournal and images blog is on text, I want to create an emphasis on photos here. I'll shoot and add an image each day. Doing so will remind me to constantly carry my camera and it'll be a more direct record of current, personal experiences.
