The Hummer H3 is proof that even if you're a Hummer, good things come in small packages. Smaller, lighter, but still Hummer the H3 comes with a 3.5L Vortec Engine, 220 Bhp, available as 5 speed manual or 4 speed automatic.
Make no mistake, the Hummer H3 is fully off-road capable. It may be smaller, but true to its heritage, the Hummer H3 abounds in the indomitable spirit Hummer made famous. It has been tested and re-tested on some of the most severe off-road challenges imaginable and triumphed.
While the Hummer H2 will go through through 16 inches of water, the H3 will handle 24 inches of water. The Hummer H3 is the only vehicle in its class to have a 2-speed transfer case as standard.
Hummer is also looking to offer an Alpha version with even greater horsepower. Although prototypes have been constructed with turbos, it is the feeling that off-roaders would not want the variable power characteristics created by turbo spooling. The answer is unclear right now, but we do expect an Alpha and a pickup truck variant to join the line for 2009, if not sooner.
Its smaller size makes it more nimble in certain circumstances, more efficient and easier to drive in the city than any Hummer before it. In fact, the Hummer H3 just might be the ultimate on-/off-road vehicle on the market.
